With little data on homelessness across Auckland, Ira Mata, Ira Tangata: Auckland’s Homeless Count is critical to understanding the size and nature of homelessness in Auckland – specifically the experience of people living without shelter and in temporary accommodation.
The count’s findings will be used to inform local service planning, delivery and national policy-making to progress Auckland’s journey to ending homelessness.
The minimum numbers of people living without shelter and in temporary accommodation in Auckland are outlined below. Download the full factsheet and infographic (259 KB).
The anonymised results will be presented to council and central government to assist in informing policy and planning to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. Following this, the summary of results will be made available towards the end of the year to everyone involved in the count and the public.
